Gaetano Spina

GAETANO SPINA age 83, beloved husband for 62 years of Margherita (nee Romano); loving father of Licia Kovach (husband Andrew), Danny (wife Margaret Gray) and Tony (wife Barbara); devoted grandfather of Jennifer, Andrew and Madeline Kovach, Savannah and Brandon Spina; dearest brother of Vanda DeAngelo, Romeo Spina and Silvana Izzi; dear brother-in-law, uncle and friend of many.

Gaetano was born on November 27, 1933 in Colle de Anchise, Italy and passed away on May 5, 2017. He left Italy in 1956 and moved to Ottawa, Canada. In 1960 Gaetano moved to Little Italy in Cleveland and moved to Chesterland in 1975. Gaetano was a member of St. Anselm Catholic Church where he was an usher. He was a member of the Marco Island Italian American Club. Gaetano went to school in Italy and worked for St. Luke’s Hospital as a plumber/pipe fitter. He loved to play the accordion and guitar. Gaetano enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting deer and pheasant. He adored his family and will be remembered as a strong willed, stern, funny and family oriented man. Gaetano had a sense of humor and loved to have a good time. He was faithful, strong and had a strong work ethic. Gaetano will be greatly missed.

Mass of Christian Burial Monday, May 8, 2017 at St. Anselm Catholic Church at 10 AM. Entombment following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Gaetano at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) SUNDAY 2-6 PM.
