FREDDIE J. BENTOFF age 82, beloved husband for 52 years of Mary M.; loving father of Bradford (wife Ronnie), Darby Schwartz (husband Bryan), Derek (fiancée Jennifer Campbell) and Raleigh Corto (husband Paul); devoted grandfather of Sabrina and Morgan Bentoff, Tyler, Raleigh and McKinley O’Brien, Harper, Bailey “Chickie” and Wyatt Corto and Benjamin Schwartz; dearest brother of the late Jerome Bentoff; dear friend of many. U.S. Coast Guard Veteran.

Freddie was born on June 7, 1935 in Cleveland and passed away on January 31, 2018. He was a resident of Gates Mills for 33 years, formerly residing in Shaker Heights. Freddie graduated from Shaker Heights High School where he played basketball #15. He received his undergraduate and law degree from Ohio State University.  He was the owner/operator of Bentoff & Duber Law from 1971-2015 and Shaker Square Antiques on Larchmere. Freddie was a member of the Art & Antique Dealers League of America and the Ohio Bar Association. He was a regular at the Theatrical and enjoyed running and dancing. Freddie loved his wife, Mary, his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and celebrating Christmas and Easter with his family. Freddie will be remembered most as an honorable, loving, devoted, genuine and dedicated man with a sense of humor. He was fond of saying “You can miss a wedding; don’t ever miss a funeral.” He was an impeccable dresser and had no negative words to say about anyone. Freddie was the best person in his wife’s life and will be dearly missed.

Celebration of Life Service Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 10 AM at THE FUNERAL HOME. Burial following at Lake View Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Freddie at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) MONDAY 2-4 & 6-8 PM.
