Frank Anthony Valencic, Jr.

August 14, 1942 — December 10, 2024

Eastlake

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frank Anthony Valencic, Jr., age 82, of Eastlake, OH after a short illness. He passed away December 10, 2024, peacefully surrounded by his family. He was born on August 14, 1942, to Frank Anthony Valencic Sr. and Elizabeth (nee Sokach), into a family with proud Slovenian and Croatian heritage, celebrating and cherishing many of their rich traditions. He grew up in the Holmes Avenue area of Cleveland, attending St. Mary Parish (Collinwood), St. Joseph High School, Class of 1960, and the Cleveland Engineering Institute.

As a proud father, he is survived by his two sons, Frank III (Jennifer) and Paul (Wendy); brothers Matthew (Mary Patricia “Patti”), Joseph (Linda) and John (Charlotte “Char”); grandchildren Frank IV, Hailey and Luke; nephews and nieces Michael, Jennifer, Kelly, Kristen, Adam and David; and former wife and good friend Rosemary Valencic. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Thomas “Tommy.” Frank’s bond with his family was strong, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and fond memories.

Frank was an avid outdoorsman who had a deep passion for hunting, fishing and being in nature. He relished every opportunity to spend time outdoors, connecting with nature’s beauty and creating lasting memories. His love for the great outdoors, a place where he felt most at home, was a hallmark of his life, and his enthusiasm for these pursuits was infectious to all who knew him.

In his professional life, Frank was one of those who was fortunate enough to have a passionate career as a mechanical engineer, retiring from Lincoln Electric. He found fulfillment in his work, using his skills and creativity to design, innovate and improve. His dedication and expertise earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues, and he took great pride in the projects he contributed to throughout his career.

Standing tall at 6’4”, Frank was affectionately known as “Shorty” by his friends and family, a nickname that stuck with him throughout his life. His larger-than-life presence was matched only by his warmth, kindness and thoughtfulness for others. He was always quick with a smile, very giving and always offered a helping hand. Frank will be remembered as a gentle giant with a big heart, a man of extreme intelligence whose generosity, laughter and presence will be sorely missed. He touched the lives of many, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
