Frank J. Iskra, 81, of Wickliffe, passed away May 21, 2012, at Hospice House in Cleveland. Born July 28, 1930, in Cleveland, he had lived in Cleveland before moving to Wickliffe 51 years ago. Frank was a parishioner of St. Augustine Catholic Church, a member of Willoughby American Legion Post 214 and Willoughby Hills V.F.W. Post 4358 and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was an outgoing social person, who loved the game of golf. Mr. Iskra worked in structural steel sales.
Survivors are his wife of 54 years, Laura (nee Bianco); daughters, Mary Smith (Leo) of Eastlake, Linda Stevenson (Tim) of Circleville, Beth Iskra of Chardon and Laurie Matteson (Bill) of Ontario, N.Y.; son, Frank (Stephanie) of Normal, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Tony (Theresa) of Willoughby Hills; and sister, Jenny Raspet of Meadowland, Pa. He was also the uncle and great-uncle of many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Regina (nee Bostjancic); and brother-in-law, Victor Raspet
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2012, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 29850 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe, OH 44092. The Rev. Fr. Joseph McNulty will officiate the Mass. Cremation to follow by DeJohn Crematory. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Frank from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home of Willoughby Hills, 28890 Chardon Road (between Bishop Road and Route 91).
In lieu of flowers, the suggests contributions be made in Frank’s memory to St. Augustine Catholic Church, 2486 W. 14th St., Cleveland, OH 44113 or Christ Presbyterian Church, 12319 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, OH 44026.
