Frank H. “Pete” Kean Iii

FRANK H. “PETE” KEAN III age 80, beloved husband for 21 years of Jan (nee Jaquays); loving father of  Michele Kean Markouc (husband Robert deceased) and Laurel Kean and stepfather of Linda Black (husband David Smith), Laura Davis (husband Thomas Clapper), David Davis and Jody Beaty (husband Richard); devoted grandfather of Robert and Samantha Markouc, step grandfather of 7 and step great-grandfather of 7; dearest brother of the late Jeffrey Kean; dear uncle of 2 and friend of many.

Pete was born in Reading, MA on July 9, 1938 and passed away peacefully listening to the Patriots game on January 13, 2019. He graduated from Reading High School in 1956 and continued his education at the University of Maine where he was a TKE fraternity member. Pete taught French and was the Chair of the Language Department at University School from 1967 to 1997, as well as the JV soccer coach. After his retirement, he and his wife Jan moved to Hilton Head and volunteered their time as the property managers of their condominium development. They absolutely loved to keep everything looking nice. Pete was a true Red Sox and Patriots fan, but still had a place in his heart for the Browns. He was a true craftsman. Pete could make most anything out of wood. He and Jan adored their garden and traveled often. Pete was a voracious reader and had a passion for family history. He enjoyed quizzing friends and family with various trivia questions, especially from the 50s. Pete and Jan enjoyed listening to 50s music while sitting out by their tiki bar. He truly loved to be around people and “shoot the breeze.” Pete had a great sense of humor and was a real romantic. He was laid back and enjoyed life. Pete will be most remembered as peaceful and kind. He will forever be missed.

Celebration of Life Service Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 7pm at the FUNERAL HOME.  Graveside service will take place on Thursday at Knollwood Cemetery at 2PM. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Pete at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just east of Green Rd.) WEDNESDAY 3-7PM.
