Mass of Christian Burial for Frank Raymond Gobec, 84, will be on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 10:00 AM at The Church of St. Mary, 401 North Street, Chardon (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). Mr. Gobec died on Sunday at Precious Care Assisted Living. He was a long-time resident of Chardon previously living in Cleveland.
Frank retired after many years from CEI. He was a member of St. Mary Church for many years and previously St. Vitus Church in Cleveland where he sang in the choir. He was the past Treasurer of the St. Vitus Alumni Club and enjoyed his time with the Happy Wanderers. Frank enjoyed working his farm, bee-keeping, wine making, gardening and playing his accordion. He is described by many as a “gentle giant” and was always smiling and happy. Frank loved to help others and make them smile.
He is survived by his children Matthew (Doris) Gobec of Kirtland and Lisa (Ted) Sopko of Perry Twp.; grandchildren twins Justin and Jared and Rachael; he was the dear uncle and great-uncle of many
Mr. Gobec was preceded in death by his parents Helena (nee Sraj) and Anton Gobec, his wife Eleanor (nee Dopirak), son Phillip and siblings Anthony Gobec, Ann Gornick and Helen Melgen.
Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Frank at The DeJohn Funeral Home & Crematory of Chardon (formerly Ritondaro) 126 South St. (Rt. 44, south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Burial will follow the Mass in All Souls Cemetery.
