Frank C. Amato

Frank C. Amato Sr., born May 4, 1927 in Cleveland to the late Joseph and Teresa (Percaciante) Amato, passed away on January 12, 2018 at the age of 90. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Marie (Gravino).

Frank graduated from John Adams High School in Cleveland before serving his country as a US Merchant Marine during WWII. After his service he worked as a Tool and Die Maker for National Acme and Cleveland Twist Drill before retiring in the early 90’s.

Frank and Marie were the parents of three children, Frank Jr. (Michelle), Louise (Richard Burns) and Gary (Christine). He was the loving grandfather to nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. He was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Mentor, OH, previously of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Cleveland. Frank loved to play bocce, was an avid bowler, and in his younger days quite the baseball player. He was a big Cleveland Indians fan and spent much time gardening in his backyard. He was a true family man who loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be remembered most for being easy going, loving and very social, with a great sense of humor. He was devoted to his family and his faith, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Mass of Christian Burial Friday January 19, 2018 at 10 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church 8560 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH. Entombment following with Military Honors at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Frank at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) THURSDAY 3-5 & 6-8 PM.
