Frank Anton Urankar

FRANK ANTON URANKAR age 96, beloved husband for 65 years of the late Florence (nee Jans); loving father of Diane (Don Gullatta) Dempsey, Yvonne (Frank) Sciarappa, and the late Tom (Char, deceased) Urankar; devoted grandfather of Dana (Rocco), TJ (Liz), Frank (Rachel), Amanda, Tiffany (Shaun), Max, Arisa, Sierra, and Michael and great-grandfather of Desirae, Santino, Tevyn, Hudson, Lincoln, Kayden, Kirra, and Ryder; cherished son of the late Frank and Kristina (nee Stopar); dearest brother of Bill (Irene, deceased), and the late Kristine (Bill) and Stanley (Dorothy, deceased); dear uncle and great-uncle of many.

Frank was born on November 20, 1927, in Collinwood, Ohio. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the Richmond Heights American Legion Post #775, where he served as Commander from 2005-2007. Frank worked for the Conrail Company, as well as taught for Gilmour Academy.  There, he was certified to teach math, history, and government. He also enjoyed serving as their head baseball coach. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed coaching almost as much as he liked watching the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the OSU Buckeyes’ sports teams and marching band. He was a true pillar to his family and instilled a love for traveling. Franks Slovenian heritage was extremely important to him and another piece of him that he shared amongst his children and grandchildren. His family was the center of his world. On February 26, 2024, Frank passed away leaving his family missing his gentle and amazing love.

Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church, 5384 Wilson Mills Rd, Highland Heights, OH 44143, at 10 AM.

A burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
