REV. FR. EDWARD F. DHONDT age 74, passed away March 14, 2017 at his residence in Anderson, IN after a sudden illness.  He was born August 14, 1942, in Cleveland, OH, the son of the late Henry J. and Sabina (nee Loftus) Dhondt.

Fr. Ed was the dearest brother of the late Daniel (wife Carol) and Kathleen McCarthy (husband John, deceased), dear uncle and great-uncle of many. Survived by his church family in Anderson. He was a graduate of Marian University and St. Meinard Seminary of Theology.  He was ordained on May 24, 1969 and appointed to Faculty at Central Catholic High School in Lafayette; 1974 to the Pastoral Team at St. Joan of Arc Church in Kokomo; 1975, Faculty Cathedral High School in Indianapolis; 1978, Principal, Central Catholic High School in Lafayette; 1981, Chaplain, IUPUI Catholic Student Center and in residence at Marian College in Indianapolis; 1982, Faculty, Cathedral High School, Indianapolis and Weekend Assistance at St. Elizabeth Seton Parish in Carmel; 1984, Pastor for 29 years at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Anderson, granted retirement in 2013. He also served as Chaplain for the Knights of Columbus in Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Fr. Ed to Holy Cross School, 2801 Lincoln St., Anderson, IN 46016.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on March 18, 2017 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Anderson, IN with Bishop Timothy L. Doherty as Principal Celebrant and Bishop William Higi and Priests of the Diocese as co-celebrants.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 20, 2017 at St. Noel Catholic Church at 10 AM. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Fr. Ed at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) MONDAY MORNING 8:30-9:30 AM.
