FLORIAN A. “BOOTS” POSAVAD, age 88, beloved husband for 59 years of Mary E. “Maybeth” (nee DePetris); loving father of Gary, Sr. (retired CMSgt USAF) (wife Christine); devoted grandfather of Tabitha Meeker (husband Cory, SSgt, USAF), Gary, Jr. (SSgt, (S) USAF) (wife Candice) and great-grandfather of Quinn, Jack and Anthony Florian; cherished son of the late Edward and Barbara (nee Hap); dearest brother of the late Edward, Rose Lehmann, Louise Maruszak and Frank; devoted son-in-law of the late Frank and Angeline DePetris; dear uncle of many, especially Cynthia and Edward DePetris Pease, Beverly and Michael Sterba, Gregory and Kathy Herrera, Janet and Stephen Krajcovic and Frank Tomaselli, great-uncle and great-great-uncle of many.
Florian was a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran and Korean Conflict U.S. Army Veteran. He was a resident of Mayfield Heights for 14 years, previously residing in Willoughby Hills. He was a parishioner at St. Francis of Assisi for 14 years, previously Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. Florian was a member of the Holy Name Society, Chaplain of American Legion Post 104 and a member of ISDA. He was employed as a lithographer for a printing company. His hobbies included playing pinochle, golfing and bowling. He was a big fan of the Browns and Cleveland Indians. He enjoyed traveling, especially cruises and playing slots and blackjack. His family remembers him as someone who liked the simple things in life; who was nice and kind, possessing a quick wit and a good sense of humor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place with Military Honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman , Ohio, Thursday at 2:30 PM. The family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Florian at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) on WEDNESDAY from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
