FLORENCE SUSAN “Flossy” IAFELICE (nee Fatica), age 85, passed away at her home on January 28, 2015. She entered into God’s kingdom of eternal life surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late Loreto; loving mother of Teresa Morris (husband Ted), Loretta Dakes (husband Bob), Florence, and Loreto (wife Jennifer); devoted grandmother of Robert, Christina, Regina, Loreto Jr, and Zackary; cherished daughter of the late Angelina (nee Tirabasso) and Michael Fatica; dearest sister of the late Dorothy Rossi and Peter Fatica; dear aunt and great-aunt of many.
Florence was born on September 5, 1929 in Cleveland and lived in Willoughby with her parents Mike and Angelina and her older sister Dorothy. At age 19, she sailed the Atlantic with her mother to marry the love of her life, Loreto, in Oratino, Italy. Later that year, Loreto joined his wife and they would eventually have four children, Teresa, Loretta, Floey and Loreto Jr.
Florence was involved in running the family businesses and worked side-by-side with her son, her best friend, at their office, until this past June at the age of 85. Her determination, motivation, and disciplined work ethic helped make everything she did a great success.
Florence had many talents and hobbies. She was a great cook and baker. Her family always enjoyed her homemade pasta dinners and brownies, cakes, cookies, etc. She was a perfectionist with taking care of her house and yard, and would often be seen on her tractor cutting her own lawn. She enjoyed doing puzzles, crocheting, sketching, reading gossip magazines and, most of all, playing the slot machines!
She was fortunate to be able to travel the world with her family, go on cruises, and go back to Oratino, Italy this past year. She was very close with her grandchildren and enjoyed working with them and watching them at their dance recitals and sporting events. They were her greatest treasures along with her own children. They were by her side, 24/7, at home taking care of her since she became sick in May.
Florence will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and matriarch of the Iafelice family.
