Florence Conger

FLORENCE ELLEN CONGER (nee Schreiner), aged 78 years, beloved wife for 60 years to David L. Sr., dear mother of Sharon (Kirk Brown), David L., Jr. (Helen), Daniel and Andrew, loving grandmother of William (Erin) and Benjamin Brown, Heather, Frances, Catherine, Emily and Edward Conger, great-grandmother of Hayden and Aubrey Brown, cherished sister of Robert Schreiner (Harriet), devoted sister-in-law to Jesse Conger, Sandy Kline (deceased), Mary Velotta and Doris McGuire, treasured aunt and great-aunt. In lieu of flowers, contributions suggested to Seidman Cancer Center, 11100 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, OH 44106.

Florence was born on April 7, 1938 in Cleveland, the daughter of the late Howard and Nellie (nee Shelton) Schreiner. She resided in the same house in Cleveland Heights for over 50 years, and was also a 50 year member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She was active in her church as a 25 year Sunday school teacher, volunteer for the Novemberfest celebration, and member of the Altar Guild.

Florence was a graduate of Collinwood High School in Cleveland, a dedicated homemaker, and provided child-care to family and many friends. She supported her children and grandchildren in school activities. She could frequently be found working the concession stand at St. John Lutheran School in South Euclid.

Florence received the most enjoyment in life from her family and her garden. She was an avid gardener, and a talented sewer, knitter and crocheter. Her preferred “guilty pleasure” was chocolate. She was the central planner and “doer” at family events and functions. She will be greatly missed by many.

Services Friday, Jan. 6, 2017 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 3740 Mayfield Rd., Cleveland Heights, at 10:30 AM. Family will receive friends to pay tribute and celebrate the life of Florence at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just East of Green Rd.) THURSDAY 5-8 PM.
