EVELYN JEAN KUBLIN (nee Cheslock) age 89, passed away peacefully in hospice at the Slovene Home on November 29, 2017. Beloved wife of 63 years to Edward; loving mother of Todd (wife Roberta); cherished daughter of the late Frank and Anna (nee Kanyuch) Cheslock; dearest sister of Dorothy Thomas (husband Bo, deceased); dear aunt of many.
Evelyn was born March 27, 1928 in Midway, Ohio and passed away November 29, 2017 in Cleveland. She was married to the love of her life Edward for over 63 years. Evelyn was a resident of Euclid for over 53 years. She was a parishioner of Saint Paul’s Catholic Church and then became a parishioner of St. John of the Cross after they merged. Evelyn graduated from St. Clairsville High School and worked 10-hour shifts as a secretary at Addressograph- Multigraph in Euclid until they closed in 1982.
Evelyn enjoyed crafts and sewing. She made many of her own clothes while she was working and started her own crafting business after she retired. Evelyn enjoyed cross-stitching, plastic canvas crafts, and making corn hole toss bags, but there wasn’t a craft she wouldn’t try. She participated in Christmas craft shows every weekend until Christmas. Her husband was always by her side and happy to help her set up and take down the craft show. Later in life, her son and daughter-in-law were recruited to help at the craft shows.
Evelyn’s family and friends brought her great joy in life and she also loved to go shopping. She didn’t fit the definition of “retired” and always kept herself busy. Evelyn was a very strong woman, she knew exactly what she wanted and nobody could change her mind. She carried this trait with her until the end of her life. There were many physical challenges in the last few years, but she remained strong and fought through them all. Evelyn will be dearly missed.
Contributions may be made in memory of Evelyn to St. John of the Cross Church, 140 Richmond Rd., Euclid, OH 44143
