Eurico Monteiro

Eurico L. Monteiro, age 80, of Willoughby Hills passed away peacefully on February 19th, 2015, while surrounded by his family.

Eurico was born in Sao Vincent, Cape Verde. He traveled the world while working as a Merchant Marine.  In 1959, he immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 26.  He began to learn and eventually master the art of plastering, a craft that he performed for the rest of his life.  He also worked in the plating industry for most of his life at Tenna Corp, Gould, Inc., Imperial Clevite and Parker Hannafin.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Juliana (Gomes), children Juanita, Daniel, Marina (Brian Schaefer) Otelinda “Lindy” and Eurico Jr.  Loving brother of Elizabeth, Eloiza, Izilda, Alcinda and Maria Doceu. Beloved grandfather & uncle to many.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Gualdino Monteiro and Otelinda Madeira and son Antero.

Eurico enjoyed throwing parties for family and friends, loved Cape Verdean music and enjoyed watching soccer.  His greatest passion though was providing for his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Sat., Feb 28, 2015 at St. John of the Cross at 10am.  Interment at All Souls Cemetery.  The family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Eurico at the DEJOHN FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME of Willoughby Hills, 28890 Chardon Road on Friday from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm.
