Eugene Marous

EUGENE J. “GOOCH” MAROUS age 87, beloved husband of the late Eileen (nee Sechrist); loving father of Therese Haase (husband Joseph, deceased), Gene, Jr. (wife Loraine), Thomas (wife Christine), James (wife Lisa), Julie Heath (husband George) and the late Paul Albert; devoted grandfather of 14 and great-grandfather of 5; cherished son of the late Albert and Lillian (nee Ziska); dearest brother of the late Alberta Barrows, Leonard, Arlene Koenig, Dorothy Stettenfeld, Adelbert, and Loretta; dear uncle and great-uncle of many.

Eugene was born on March 4, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio and passed away on March 6, 2018. He was a resident of Mayfield Village for 40 years, formerly of Highland Heights. Eugene was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He graduated from Mayfield High School in 1951 and in 1952 married the love of his life and High School sweetheart, Eileen. He was the owner/operator of King Excavating since 1956. Eugene loved woodworking, golf and wine making. He enjoyed traveling, especially cruises and visiting Alaska. Eugene was a Cleveland Browns, Indians and Cavs fan. He will be remembered most as a very social, hardworking, funny, strong-willed and very handy man who could fix anything. Family was extremely important to Eugene and he enjoyed all the time he spent with his family and friends. Eugene was the life of the party. He had a great smile and a great laugh. Eugene will be dearly missed.

Mass of Christian Burial Monday, March 12, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 10 AM. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Eugene at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) SUNDAY 2-6 PM.
