ERMA J. KNEPPER (nee Shanower), age 89; beloved wife for 32 years of the late Daryl; loving mother of Linda Rainey (husband David), James (wife Debbie) of CO and the late Sandra Draughon (husband Ronald); devoted grandmother of Emily Rainey-Barger (husband Richard), Heather Rainey, Tiffany Pew (husband Joshua), Ronald A. Draughon and great-grandmother of Zoey and Evelyn Pew; treasured daughter of the late George Glenn and Drella (nee Mollett) Shanower; cherished sister of Velma Kirchner (husband Robert, deceased) of FL and the late Lee Shanower and Leota Feller (husband Joseph, deceased); dearest companion for 25 years of the late David Simpson; dear aunt and great aunt of many.
Erma was born March 1, 1925 in Bowling Green, Ohio where she met and married Daryl Knepper in 1946. She worked as a bank teller during her young adult years. She later worked at American Greetings in Cleveland in the Accounts Payable Department for many years. She enjoyed traveling, ballroom dancing and golf. She was a member of the U.S. Amateur Ballroom Dance Association and was involved in competitive ballroom dancing. She assisted her partner David Simpson with setting up and providing music for ballroom dance competitions. She was a member of the Scottish Heritage Society and volunteered at the Scottish Games in Oberlin. She had been a member of Lakewood Presbyterian Church for many years. She lived in Lakewood, Ohio for 45 years. She was frequently described as easy going. She celebrated her 39th birthday 51 times before her death on June 15, 2014.

Celebration of Life Service in memory of Erma will take place Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 11 AM at Forest Hill Church, 3031 Monticello Blvd Cleveland Heights, OH. Private Inurnment West Park Cemetery.
Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Erma at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just east of Green Rd.) FRIDAY 4-7 PM.
