EMMA VIVIAN FRANCES REDMON (nee Brown) age 94, loving mother of Dejuaii Satchell (husband Leslie); devoted grandmother of Colette Johnson (husband Jevon), Ivy Evans, Andre Satchell (wife Janine) and Leslie Satchell Jr. and great-grandmother of Jevon, Jamir, and Kira Johnson and Andre Jr. and Amir Satchell; cherished daughter of James and Mary (nee Johnson) Brown.

Emma Vivian was born January 10, 1923 in Chattanooga, TN and passed away December 3, 2017 in Bainbridge where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law for the last 11 years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint where she participated in Relief Society activities and the choir. She was baptized February 19, 1995. Emma Vivian was previously affiliated with the First Corinth Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia where she participated in the Senior Choir.

She was active member with the Geauga County Senior Center participating in the Senior Choir, The Line Dancers, Thai Chi, Chair Volleyball, Bowling and many Art and Craft projects. She was an avid supporter of Special Olympics and supported her granddaughter Ivy Evans and grandson Leslie Satchell, Jr in all their Special Olympic events.

She graduated from Howard High School in Chattanooga, TN, Class of 1943 where she was an honor student and received a scholarship to Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. Emma Vivian later became a seamstress at Ashton Limited, Inc and worked there for many years.

Emma Vivian has a passion for fine arts and frequently could be found that museums, theater performance, ballet, orchestra concerts and cultural events. Her hobbies included swimming, sewing, playing piano, ceramics, stained glass work, puzzles, playing scrabble and most work games and crossword puzzles. She was a doll collector and loved collecting unique and beautiful bottles. Emma Vivian’s favorite music were hymns and she loved the Shirley Temple movies. She loved children and she babysat kids for most of her life from the time she was a teenager.  Emma Vivian taught her family how to bake from scratch and by hand. She loved making cakes and sweet potato pie was her specialty.

She was described by her family as a good Samaritan with a huge generous and loving heart. She loved the Lord and her favorite quote was, “I lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth” (Psalm 121:1-2). Emma Vivian will be dearly missed.

Funeral Service Friday, December 8, 2017 at 10 AM at Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, 5825 Liberty Rd, Solon, with visiting from 9-10 AM. Burial following at Crown Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD.
