EMILY B. KERN (nee Furlan) age 85; beloved wife for 64 years of William J.; loving mother of Carolann Harkey (husband Mark), William (wife Annie) and Mary Nykiel (husband John); devoted grandmother of Kristen and Laura Harkey; Kelly and Rachel Kern, Michelle and Janeene Bensi, Johnny and Kathleen Nykiel; cherished daughter of the late Leopold and Anna (nee Prijatel) Furlan; dearest sister of the late Leo, Adolph and Joseph Furlan, Ann Winter, Albin, Francis, Maria and Elsie Furlan. Dear aunt and great-aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Emily was a devoted member of St. John of the Cross Parish for 30 years where God and her faith were the center of her life. She was a resident of Euclid after moving from Cleveland 50 years ago. In addition to working as the head laundress at Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home, Emily enjoyed crocheting, dancing to waltzes and polkas, and reading novels. She also enjoyed taking walks, cooking, baking, solving puzzles and listening to Polka music. We will remember Emily as a sweet, faithful and loving mother who valued her family above all else.

Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, August 3, 2013 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church at 9:30 AM at 140 Richmond Rd., Euclid, OH 44143. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery.
