Emery Brandich, WWII, USN veteran, age 98, beloved husband of the late Margaret (nee Walsh); loving father of Janet Kraus (Robert), Patricia Knezevic (Samuel), Noreen, Kevin (Kim) and the late Jerry Brandich and Laura Fenzl. Devoted grandfather of Sarah Savarese (Matt), Betsy Black (Joseph), Carolyn Knezevic, Michael Knezevic (Carrie), Samuel Knezevic (Breanne), Annie Knezevic, Jake Fenzl, Bailey Fenzl, Matthew Brandich and Emma Brandich. Cherished son of the late Emery and Emma (nee Boehm), and dearest brother to the following, all deceased: Emma Cassidy (Jack), Mary Hoffert (Joseph), Charles (Dorothy), Lillian Hawkins (Jim), and Betty Esner (George). Beloved uncle, great-uncle and friend of many.
Emery was born June 20, 1925 and grew up in the Collinwood neighborhood of Cleveland. He attended St. Joseph School and in 1943 graduated from Collinwood High School. He went on to proudly serve in the US Navy Armed Guard during WWII. Afterward he furthered his education at Fenn College and John Carroll University.
Emery and Margaret met at Geneva-on-the-Lake in 1951. One year later they married and remained devoted for 69½ years, until Margaret's passing in 2022.
As an enthusiastic alumni of Collinwood High School class of 1943, Emery organized many class reunions. He continued to express his devotion to the old neighborhood by authoring the book "A History of St. Joseph Church (Collinwood)" in 1989. Always a social person, Emery belonged to the Knights of Columbus, Council 3164; the VFW; and the East Side Irish American Club. He and his late wife Margaret were founding members of the Married Couples Club at Holy Cross parish. Professionally, he was an active member of the Northern Ohio Radiator Association and served as president from 1973-75. For over 30 years Emery was owner/operator of the very successful Lakeview Auto Radiator Co. Emery enjoyed bowling, and for many years sponsored the Lakeview Radiator team at Euclid's Shore Bowl. In 1990, at the ripe old age of 65, he achieved 1st place for bowling in the Senior division at the Ohio Sports Festival.
He and Margaret enjoyed traveling to the Caribbean and went on over 15 cruises and vacationed in Aruba multiple times. They very much enjoyed monthly gatherings to play poker with their sisters- and brothers-in-law.
Emery passed away March 28, 2024, surrounded by his children. His legacy will live on and he will remain in their hearts forevermore.
