Elizabeth Dickinson Swift Ishler

Elizabeth Ishler, age 84, of Lyndhurst, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2013. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend since childhood, William. They were married for 62 years. She was the beloved mother of Michael (Kathleen) Ishler and Laurie (Gary) McQuilkin; grandmother of Brian (Kacey) McQuilkin, Stephanie (Nathanial) Jakus, Sarah (James) Woods, Matthew Ishler and Annie (Jack) Collins; great grandmother of Logan, Piper and Wren McQuilkin; sister-in-law of LeRoy (Florence) and Charles (Jane) Ishler. She was preceded in death by parents Raymond and Laura Swift; brother Raymond Emery Swift.

Elizabeth was born in State College PA, and graduated from Penn State University in 1951 with a degree in Elementary Education. She loved children, and worked as an elementary school teacher for many years, especially at Bolton Elementary, Lyndhurst. She had many hobbies and interests, including sewing, embroidery, traveling, reading, music, card and board games. She especially loved spending summers at the family cottage on Lake Waukeena in New Hampshire. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, oatmeal bread, chocolate brownies, deviled eggs, service to the church, and incredible devotion to family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Hope Lutheran Church.

Memorial service to be held at Hope Lutheran Church, 2222 N. Taylor Road, Cleveland Heights on Saturday, October 26 at 11:00am with Rev. Don King, Pastor, officiating. The family will receive friends during the reception following the service.
