Elia D’Alessandro

ELIA D’ALESSANDRO (nee Sebastianelli) age 97, beloved wife of the late Vincent; loving mother of JoAnn Ovnic (husband Joseph); devoted grandmother of Matthew, Christina “Nina” and Claire Ovnic; cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (nee Campanelli) Sebastianelli; dearest sister of Samuel Sebastian (wife JoAnn) and the late Olga Sebastianelli; treasured sister-in-law of Clara Catliota and Rose D’Alessandro; dear aunt, great-aunt, cousin and godmother of many. Elia will be remembered as a kind, generous and humble woman who always had a positive attitude. She will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the staff of Altercare of Nobles Pond and Absolute Hospice for their loving care of Elia.

Elia graduated from John Hay High School. She was an executive secretary for the HK Ferguson Company and Secretary to the Dean of Engineering at Case Western Reserve University. After several years at home, Elia returned to work in her most rewarding job as a teacher’s aide with the Mayfield City School Hearing Impaired Program. Known as “Mrs. D” she enjoyed working with the teachers and children and formed many lasting bonds. She was a member of Saint Paschal Baylon Church since 1973.

Elia had a wonderful marriage to Vincent for 48 years. They treasured each other, enjoyed dancing, Italian music, and especially spending time around the table hosting family and friends. She was a wonderful mother; JoAnn will especially miss all of the time they spent together cooking, shopping and in the last few years reminiscing. She especially cherished being a Nonna, with backyard picnics, New Year’s Eve parties and making pizzas and pasta with her grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, March 23, 2019 at St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church at 10:30 AM. Burial following at Lake View Cemetery.  Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Elia at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just east of Green Rd.) FRIDAY 4-8 PM.
