Elena Isabel Maria, 69, of Painesville, passed away Sept. 26, 2013, at the Hospice of the Western Reserve. Born Sept. 5, 1944, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, she had been a resident of Fairport Harbor and Euclid before moving to Painesville two years ago. Mrs. Maria worked in the maintenance department for the Euclid Board of Education, from where she retired in 2011 after 21 years of employment.
Elena enjoyed knitting and cooking. She also loved crossword and word search puzzles.
Survivors are her husband of 47 years, Bernardo M.; daughters, Silivina (Greg) Busam, Elena Patricia (Solamon) Arcos, Mirta (Robert) Jenkins and Celeste (Andy Strand) Maria; sons, Bernardo “Dito” (Melissa) Maria and Raul Maria; and grandchildren, Cristina, Monica, Gregory, Alejandro, Daniel, Katelynn, Tristan, Gabriella, Nicolas, Cameron and Sofia; and sisters, Veva, Pocha, Stella and Susi. She was also the dear aunt of many.
Elena was preceded in death by her parents, Raul I. and Maria (nee Libertini) Beras; brother, Tito; and sister, Elvira.
Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at the DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home of Willoughby Hills, 28890 Chardon Road (between Bishop Road and Route 91), with funeral services to immediately follow at noon. Private burial will be in Willoughby Cemetery.
