Elder William H. Snodgrass

SNODGRASS ELDER, MASTER SERGEANT WILLIAM H. “JUNE” SNODGRASS, made his entrance Jan. 2, 1923, his exit Nov. 9, 2010, born in Alliance, OH., to the late William H. and Annie Whittaker Snodgrass, he was the 5th born. William was a product of the Alliance Public School System, attended Mt. Union College in Alliance, Lake View Christian College in Colorado, and Culinary School in Italy. William served in both the U.S. Army and Air Force, a total of 25+ years. He was ordained in C.O.G.I.C. as a minister in Newport News, VA. While in the Air Force, and was assistant to the chaplain. He was also a chef. In earlier years, he was a Pastor. He was an Active Elder at New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Stanley Lockhart. As long as his health permitted, he was a prayerful man who had great love for his God, his wife, his family, his Church, his friends and his country. One of his favorite hymns was “Your Grace and Mercy”. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, John, Charlie, Robert and Leonard; two sisters, Sallie and Lucy; two special friends, Bernice Rhyne and Helena Hill; one son-in-law, Ron Webb of Daytona Beach, FL.; and one grandson, Justin L. Prunty of Cleveland, OH. He leaves to celebrate his life, wife Savannah; three sons, Marion (Pliney) of Sacramento, CA., Glen (Dr. Ann Hill) of Columbus, OH., and Winifred (Marian) of Alliance, OH.; four stepsons, Odis (Navie) of Jonesboro, AR., Floyd (Debbie) of Rockford, IL., Ron of Phoenix, AZ., and Harold (Marta) of Brook Park, OH.; three stepdaughters, Helen Faye (Michael) of Richmond Hts., OH., Apryl (Sam) of Daytona Beach, FL., and Tina of Peoria, IL.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and friends. Elder Snodgrass will be greatly missed. VIEWING WILL BE HELD ON MONDAY, NOV. 15, 2010 FROM 11 A.M. UNTIL 12 NOON AT THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (JUST EAST OF GREEN RD.). Funeral services and celebration of the life of Elder Snodgrass will follow at 12 noon. Private burial with full military honors will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
