Eileen M. Mullally

Eileen Murphy Mullally, age 94, beloved wife of the late Pierce H., M.D.; dear mother of Katie Murphy (Ray) and the late Pat; loving grandmother of John B. Murphy and Ellen M. Jones (Jason), and great-grandmother to Hollis D. and Simon R. Jones; sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend to many.

Eileen was born December 7, 1920 in St. Louis, MO to Mary Kenny and William R. Murphy. She was the oldest of five—Maureen Nolan, Pat Dempsey, Kathleen Bowey, and Bill Murphy (all deceased). She earned her Bachelor’s degree from St. Louis University, and her Master’s in Guidance and Education from John Carroll University. She was a licensed realtor. Eileen taught medical-surgical nursing at St. Vincent Charity Hospital School of Nursing, was a guidance counselor at Beaumont School, and a realtor at Barbara Pumphrey Realty.

Eileen was named Cleveland’s Ideal Nurse in 1947 by The Cleveland Press. She was a president, board member, committee member, and volunteer for many organizations, including the Council of World Affairs, Women’s City Club, Carmelite Guild, Christ Child Society, Neuman Foundation, Catholic Charities, Cleveland Museum of Art, Parmadale, Help Home, Cleveland Foodbank, Irish American Archives Society (founding member), Civil War Roundtable, The Investment Club, St. Ann Parish Guild, and St. Vincent Charity Women’s Guild. Eileen was a life-long member of the Tuesday Study Club, The Book Club, and her prayer group.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, 44110.

Funeral Mass at St. Ann Church (Communion of Saints Parish), Tuesday, December 30th, at 10am. Private interment.
