Effie T. Papouras

Effie T. Papouras, age 76, beloved wife for 61 years of Thomas V.; most loving and devoted mother to William, Diane Kariotakis (husband Nicholas) and Nicholas; adoring, proud and cherished Yiayia to Gabrielle Kariotakis (fiancé Chad Smith) and Michael Kariotakis; preceded in death by her parents Nikoloas and Athena Liontos and siblings Vasilis Liontos, Chrisanthe Vesoulis (husband Lucas, deceased) and John Liontos (wife Niki); cherished sister-in-law of Christos & Artemis Papouras, Angelos & Sophia Papouras; dearest aunt of Zisis Vesoulis (wife Nancy), Nick Vesoulis (wife Jane), Paul Vesoulis, Athena Liontos (husband Dimitri), Nikos Liontos (wife Verenice), Bill Liontos, William Papouras (wife Julia) and Anna Psellas (husband John) and great aunt of many; dear cousin and friend to many.

Effie was born on March 10, 1947, in Greece and came to the US in 1962. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and caring for her grandchildren. Effie’s greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. Many would say she was gentle, sweet, kind, very thoughtful, with a sense of humor and was non-judgmental of others. She loved unconditionally, was an easy-going person who was devoted to her family and her faith. Her warm smile and love were always felt by everyone in her presence.  Effie passed away surrounded by her loving family on November 2, 2023. She will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.

Funeral Service Tuesday November 7, 2023, at 11 AM at SS Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 3352 Mayfield Rd., Cleveland Heights, Ohio 44118. Burial following at Knollwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Effie at THE CHURCH  TUESDAY MORNING 10 – 11 AM.
