EDWARD W. SPODAR age 88, beloved husband of the late Lucille (nee Berdyck); loving father of Linda Spodar-Harris (husband Jeffrey), Lisa Abbott (husband Tim) and Leslie Markel (fiancé Robert Frantz); devoted grandfather of Christopher Markel, Sara Gilliam (husband Sean), Jennifer Abbott (Tony Bilic), Melissa Abbott and Jason Abbott and great-grandfather of Bobby, Nora and Callan; cherished son of the late Mike and Stella (nee Zanko); dearest brother of the late Paul and Emil; dear uncle, great-uncle and friend of many.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 31, 1936, Ed graduated from John Adams High School with the Class of 1954 and was called by Uncle Sam to serve with the US Air Force in the Korean Conflict. Returning from military service, he attended Fenn College and began many years of employment as an electrician with the Fisher Body Division of General Motors. With the Air Force entrenched in his blood, Ed enjoyed traveling to the various Air Force bases in the US. He also loved to try his luck in Las Vegas and visit more local attractions via senior bus trips. Ed was a history buff and never missed an opportunity to increase his knowledge by watching the History Channel. He belonged to the American Legion and if his buddies asked him a history question, chances were excellent that he was ready with the answer. More active pastimes included bowling, softball, basketball and, of course, attending games of the Cleveland Browns, Indians and Cavs. Ed was known as social, strong, caring and generous with a wonderful sense of humor. Ed bonded with Lucille early in life and lovingly adjusted to living in a house full of women after they had three beautiful daughters. He was a proud grandfather of five and the family grew to include great-grandchildren. This devoted family man passed away on January 9, 2025. His family will remember him for his unwavering support, warm smile and the wisdom he shared throughout his life.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Ed to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44110 or online at https://www.hospicewr.org .
