Edward S. Schaller. age 94, beloved husband for 69 years of Mary M. (nee Brandt); loving father of Leslie (Timothy Foran) and Lisa Schaller-DeCarbo (husband Nick); cherished son of the late Edward S. and Florence M. (nee Sewell); dearest brother of the late Helen M. Collins (husband Albert, deceased), Janet M. Angus, and Florence “Rita” Hall (husband Alvin, deceased); dear uncle and great-uncle of many. World War II U.S. Army Veteran.
Ed was born on Christmas Day 1923, and died September 27, 2018. He graduated from Shaw High School in 1941, and attended what is now Case Western Reserve University and The Ohio State University. Ed married the love of his life Mary in 1949, and was a resident of Mayfield Heights since 1952. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp/Signal Corps, and later became an electrician. Ed was a long-time member of Church of St. Clare parish, where he served as an usher. He was also President of the building committee, and rewired the St. Clare church and school buildings. Ed was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 38 for 70 years. A Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Ed was a past Navigator at the Moses Cleaveland Assembly #800, and a Grand Knight of Gilmour Council #310. In his free time Ed enjoyed restoring sports cars and completed six restorations, as well as working on various electrical projects for his friends over the years. He was an avid reader and Indians fan, and also enjoyed bowling and fishing. Ed will be remembered as outgoing, giving, and generous, with a playful wit and strong faith. He will be greatly missed.

Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, October 4, 2018 at St. Clare Catholic Church at 10:30 AM. Burial following with Military Honors at Lake View Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Ed at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) WEDNESDAY 2-4 & 5-8 PM.
