Edward (Ed) Reilly II, aged 89 years, beloved husband for 68 years of Eileen Rose (nee Wells), loving father of Edward III (wife Deborah Klein) and Kathleen Adamczyk (husband George). Devoted grandfather to Kristin Tran (husband Quoc) and Kevin Adamczyk (wife Annie) and great-grandfather to Tara Tran and Lucas Tran. Dear brother of the late Margaret Connelly (husband Francis deceased), Mary Eleanor Reilly, Elizabeth Reilly Gray (husband Bob deceased) and John Reilly.
Edward was born in Campbell, Ohio on May 20, 1927 and passed away on May 23, 2016 in Richmond Hts. Ed was a long time resident of Mayfield Heights and member of St Clare Parish. He attended Ursuline High School in Youngstown and John Carroll University. He married Eileen Rose Wells on November 27, 1947. Ed worked in TV installation and repair in the very early days of television and installed the very first television set in the city of Cleveland.
Ed was a licensed ham radio operator (W8OKE) for many years and was involved in a variety of volunteer organizations to provide communications and promote disaster preparedness. These organizations included Civil Defense, the American Red Cross, and Geauga County EMA among others. He was also actively involved in providing communications for many local community events through his local amateur radio club and was an educator and mentor to many young people interested in amateur radio all of his life.
Ed worked for many years as an electronics design engineer for Brush Instruments , a division of Clevite Corporation and later Gould Inc. He retired in 1983, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, being involved with his local AARP chapter, designing and building electronic devices, and continuing his involvement with activities of his radio club and Geauga County EMA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions may be made in Ed’s memory to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44110
Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Ed at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just east of Green Rd.) on Friday June 17th, 3-6 PM.
