Dr. Robert S. Hazelton

Dr.  Robert  S.  Hazelton  died on November 14, 2023, in Pepper Pike. He was 83 years old.

Bob was born on September 18, 1940 and raised in Cleveland. He liked to say that he lived “on both sides of the river.”  He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1958, where he excelled in wrestling and badminton. He went to Princeton University, where he majored in Philosophy, graduating in 1962. When he returned to Cleveland, he earned a Masters’ Degree in Philosophy and Ph.D in Library Science from Case Western Reserve University. Bob’s first job was at Society for Savings Bank, but he soon moved to Eaton Corporation where he spent his entire career. He was Vice President of Emerging Technology, Networks, and IT Architecture. He retired from Eaton in 2004.

Bob was a true Renaissance Man. He was a gourmet Chinese cook, an art collector, a blues devotee, and a woodworker. He played tennis and squash into his 70’s.  He was a member of the University Club and the Rowfant Club.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Marjorie Hazelton, and his wife, Sandra Hazelton, who died in the crash of TWA 800 in 1996. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Cynthia Hazelton, three cats and his dog Bisous, his sisters Nancy Reynolds (Shirlie Cox), and Linda Baskey, and his brothers Chris Hazelton (Betti) and Lee Baskey (Cathleen).

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cleveland Animal Protective League. Arrangements entrusted to THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID.
