Douglas Creech

DOUGLAS A. CREECH, age 67, beloved husband for 43 years of Jan (nee Stovicek); loving father of Timothy, Matthew (wife Jennifer) and Steven; devoted grandfather of Lucas, Zachary and Ryan; cherished son of the late Arvel and Ann (nee Licursi); dearest brother of Sandra Floyd (husband Jack), Sharon Rigg (husband Lyle), Thomas (wife Martha) and the late Dennis (wife Sherri); fond nephew of Paul Licursi; treasured son-in-law of Marlene Shettel and the late Lawrence Stovicek; dear brother-in-law of Lawrence, Jr and Kathleen, Mark and Lynne, Eric and Vicki (Jurist), Neal and Gladys, Bart and Nancy Stovicek; dear uncle and great-uncle of many.

Doug was born August 22, 1949 and passed away peacefully among his family on October 22, 2016.  Doug was a life-long Clevelander along with the love of his life, his wife of 43 years; Jan.  After growing up in a lively and lovely South Euclid home with his four siblings, he graduated from Brush High School in 1967 and shortly after began a career as a plumber beside his father.  Over a forty year career as a member of Plumbers Union Local #55 working with the Smith & Oby Company, he offered the best service possible at iconic Cleveland locations such as Cleveland Browns Stadium, the Key Bank building, and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, among others.  Doug and Jan raised three happy and successful young men and Doug selflessly shared his interests and abilities with his sons.  Doug loved sunrises and sunsets while fishing & boating on Lake Erie and at Lake Chautauqua, where he prioritized spending two weeks each summer with family & friends.  Chautauqua was the scene of endless practical jokes that still have loved ones laughing.

In recent years he honed his skeet & trap shooting, and excelled enough to earn the coveted Top Gun award at the Urbandale Gun Club.  No matter what his interests at the time, he always strived for excellence, as witnessed in his fatherhood, plumbing, lawn-care, shooting accomplishments, poker games with lifelong friends, or five fantasy football championships with family members.  Above all, Doug deeply loved his three grandchildren and he will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, Doug and his family prefer contributions be made in Doug’s memory to Hospice of the Western Reserve 17876 St Clair Ave Cleveland, OH 44110,(www.give.hospicewr.org) or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network 1500 Rosecrans Ave, Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266 (www.pancan.org).
