Dorothy R . Mead

DOROTHY R. MEAD (nee Raymond), aged 96 years, beloved wife of the late Elbert, dearest mother of Edward (wife Ellen), William (deceased), Virginia Barnish (husband Tom) and Charles (wife Susan), loving grandmother of Patricia, Eric and Kelly Mead, Susan and Fr. Jeffrey Barnish, and Paige Onofreo, great-grandmother of Evan Mead, cherished sister of Zoe Youmans and the late Vera Granlund and Constance Plunkett, fond aunt and grand-aunt. Contributions in memory of Dorothy suggested to any Audubon Society.

Dottie grew up in Bronxville, N.Y. and was a proud 1944 graduate of Connecticut College in New London, CT.  She and El were married for 69 years.  They lived in White Plains, N.Y. for almost 50 years and then retired to New Bern, N.C. for 20 years.  Dottie spent many years as a homemaker and full time mother. She also worked for the Boy Scouts and volunteered with many organizations including the PTA and Tryon Palace.  She enjoyed sewing, gardening and watching the birds around her homes.  She also enjoyed travelling with El on conventions, spending weekends on their boat and vacations at the beach.  After retiring, Dottie enjoyed golf with El and with her golf groups in New Bern.

Please meet for the Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 340 N. Main St., Hudson, at 10:30 AM. Fr. Jeffrey Barnish, her grandson, principal celebrant. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Greenwich, CT. Arrangements entrusted to THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID.
