DOROTHY K. KEE (nee KARANTONIS), age 83; beloved wife for 54 years of Virgil; loving mother of Cynthia Smith (husband Jeffery) and Nancy Kee (husband William Motzko); devoted grandmother of Connor and Haley Smith and Kelly and Cooper Motzko; treasured daughter of the late Konstantinos and Georgia (nee Chuchurus) Karantonis; dear friend of many.
Dorothy was a former council woman in Highland Heights and a long-time elementary school teacher in the Mayfield City School District, primarily at the Lander Road School. A graduate of Lehman High School in Canton, Ohio, she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Bowling Green State University, and Masters of Education from Case Western Reserve University. She was a member of the First Unitarian Church of Shaker Heights, Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, and active in MARC and the American Field Service (AFS). Dorothy was fond of violin and other classical music. Following her retirement, she enjoyed working as a substitute teacher in Mayfield, as well as collecting sea glass during her summers on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. She enjoyed traveling extensively with her husband to Europe, North Africa, Asia, and Central America. Many will remember her as a generous and gregarious woman who loved people and enjoyed politics.
