The world lost a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Dorothy Paluf died peacefully Wednesday, January 20, 2021. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Andrew (Andy) Paluf. Dorothy led a magnificent life spanning 99 years. When you envision a mother’s love, you see Dorothy. She was a kind soul with a warm heart and beautiful smile. She graduated from John Adams High School in 1939 and St. Vincent Charity and Fairview Park Nursing School. Dorothy worked as a nurse for over 40 years, more than half of that time serving her local school community as a public health nurse.  She inspired two of her daughters and one of her great-grandchildren to follow in her footsteps. A talented baker and cook, especially of traditional Slovak cuisine, Dorothy’s family and friends loved gathering at her table. She was a member of the Wives Club of the Knights of Columbus and Alhambra. Dorothy enjoyed walking, spending time with friends, and taking drives to visit her children and their families. She especially enjoyed the frequent trips to Chagrin Falls from her home in Lyndhurst, OH. Dorothy enjoyed knitting, crocheting and watching baseball, especially the Indians and University of Notre Dame. Family was the cornerstone of Dorothy’s life, and she and Andy created a wonderful family in their 60 years together. She will be remembered most as a generous, loving, thoughtful and soft-spoken woman. Dorothy will be dearly missed.
