DORIS M. WINNEY (nee Myrtle) age 91, of Wickliffe went home to be with the Lord on August 15, 2015. Beloved wife of the late Grant G.; loving mother of Gary T. (wife Colleen), Lorraine M. Segal (husband Robert), and Grant G., Jr (wife Nancy); devoted grandmother of James Semich (wife Dawn), Alicia McCardle (husband Jay), Grant G., III (wife Ellen), Christopher (wife Taryn) and great-grandmother of Krista, Gianna, Rosalina, Luke, Teresa, Anthony and John Paul; cherished daughter of the late Clair and Mae (nee Dezort) Myrtle; dearest sister of the late Lois Hill and Bud Myrtle; dear aunt and great-aunt of many. Doris is also survived by her loving canine companion Rufus.
Doris was born January 17, 1924 in Cleveland. She has been a resident of Wickliffe for 11 years, previously living in Kirtland. Doris was a member of Mentor Baptist Church and Calvary Assembly. She was on the Deaconess board at Mentor Baptist Church. Doris was a member of the Kirtland Grange. She enjoyed being a homemaker and cooking for her family. One of her favorite meals to make for her family was pork, sauerkraut and dumplings. Doris loved watching Mother Angelica, sewing, embroidery, playing the organ and gardening. Her mother taught Doris how to embroider and sew, she embroidered her first handkerchief at age 7. She loved Big Band and Easy Listening music. Doris’s family gave her the most enjoyment in life. She will be remembered most as an energetic, loving, giving, and hospitable lady with a great sense of humor. Doris was a faithful follower of Christ.

Celebration of Life Service Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at Mentor Baptist Church 7500 Johnnycake Ridge Rd Mentor, OH at 11 AM. Burial following at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Doris at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) TUESDAY 6-8 PM and at the CHURCH WEDNESDAY MORNING 10-11 AM.
