Doreen Sedlak

Doreen was born Nov. 11, 1941 to the late Alfred and Ivy (nee Sturgess) Vincent in England. She entered into eternal life on January 8, 2016 after a brief illness. She lived in Cleveland most of her life, also living in Illinois for 23 years before moving to Chardon 14 years ago.  Doreen attended St. Mary Catholic Church, where she was very active.  She volunteered with the Christ Child Society, Empty Nesters, Meals on Wheels, the St. Mary’s Bereavement Ministry and was a board member of St. Mary’s 50+ Club. She also worked the voting polls and was on the grand jury.  Doreen spent most of her life raising her 3 children but also worked in various retail jobs as a bookkeeper.  She enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles, playing cards, going to Broadway shows and trips to casinos.  Doreen was a lovely and giving person and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years Robert S.; her sons Robert V. of Florida, Douglas S. (wife Lisa) of Illinois and Andrew M. (wife Cathy, deceased) of Illinois; grandchildren Douglas and Leah Sedlak, Courtney Jacobson, Matt, Mike, and Melissa Sommerfield, and James Smead.

Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church 401 North Street, Chardon at 10 AM.  Burial following in All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Doreen at THE DEJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY OF CHARDON (formerly Ritondaro) 126 SOUTH ST. (Rt. 44, south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 PM

Family suggests contributions be made in Doreen’s memory to The Christ Child Society of Geauga County PO Box 1133 Chardon, OH 44024.
