DONALD L. FINK, age 71, beloved husband for 45 years of Anne (nee Schraff); loving father of Elizabeth, Donald Jr., Mary, Margaret Fink-Albino (husband Nicholas), and Christine Fink-Lesniak (husband Jesse); devoted grandfather of Robert, Lillian, Edward and Andrew; cherished son of the late Joseph J., M.D. and Rosemary (nee Echle); dearest brother of Joseph (wife Carol) and Karen Eberz; dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend of many.
Don was born on February 9, 1947 in Cleveland and passed away on January 9, 2019. He has been a resident of Cleveland Heights for the past 41 years, formerly of Euclid and University Heights. Don attended Gesu as a child. He served as an usher, Boy Scout Leader, social committee member, and parish council member at the former St. Louis Catholic Church. Don was also very involved at his current parish, Communion of Saints. He volunteered at St. Augustine Hunger Center, Benedictine High School, and Regina High School. He graduated from Chanel High School in 1965, and from Case Institute of Technology in 1970 where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Theta fraternity. Don was a mechanical and electrical engineer. He enjoyed antiquing, swimming (member of Forest Hill Swim Club), cooking, entertaining, collecting pewter, traveling (especially to Key West) and his grandkids. Don was generous, intelligent, strong willed, big-hearted, hospitable, a care-giver, and a loyal friend. He had a unique and witty sense of humor. Don will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. Augustine Hunger Center, 2486 West 14th Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44113 or St. Ann Church of Communion of Saints Parish, 2175 Coventry Road, Cleveland Heights, Ohio 44118. Relatives and friends are requested to meet for the Funeral Mass, Saturday, January 19, 2019 at St. Ann Catholic Church of Communion of Saints Parish (Coventry at Cedar) at 12 Noon. Cremation following by DeJohn Crematory. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Don at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just East of Green Rd.) FRIDAY 4-8 PM.
