Donald John Wichert

DONALD JOHN WICHERT age 81, beloved husband for 55 years of Joyce K. (nee Baird); loving father of Eric (wife Sarah), Jeffrey (wife Kathy), and Jason (wife Nicole); devoted grandfather of Corey Bowers (wife Bianca), Kaylee, Kieran Duhl, Brian, Jacob, Justin, Jordyn, Bradley, Abigail, and Logan Wichert; and great grandfather of Dane and Abigail; cherished son of the late Clarence Herbert and Meta Frieda (nee Pepper); dearest brother-in-law of William and Carol Baird; dear uncle and great-uncle of many. U.S. Navy Veteran.

Donald was born in Cleveland on May 11, 1940 and passed away peacefully on November 21, 2021.  He was a resident of Burton. Donald graduated from Kirtland High School in 1958 and went on to earn his Bachelors at Ohio University and Masters at Case Western Reserve University and become a loan officer. He was a member of Oak River Traveling Ensemble and Toastmasters.  Donald loved gardening. He will be remembered most as a social, quiet, hardworking and reserved man who loved a good joke. Donald was a loyal man who was devoted to his family and faith. He will be dearly missed by many.

Celebration of Life Service Friday, November 26, 2021 at 11 AM at THE FUNERAL HOME. Burial following with Military Honors at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Donald at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) FRIDAY MORNING 10-11 AM.
