Diane Marie Evans

Diane Marie Evans (nee Harris), of South Euclid, Ohio, passed away Oct. 4 surrounded by family after a long and courageous battle with colon cancer. She was 61.

Diane was born June 3, 1957, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Flecteau Harris (nee Tibbs) and Arsby Harris.

Diane began her career in newspaper advertising in 1984 as a classified account executive with Sun Newspapers. In 1999, she became an account executive with the Chagrin Valley Times. In 2003, Diane began working for one of the Karlovec Media Group publications, the Geauga County Maple Leaf, as the director of advertising, before retiring in 2014.

She loved traveling, shopping, and spending time with family and friends. She was also an avid tea connoisseur and collector, loved curling up with a good movie or book, and found comfort in her faith in God.

In recent years, Diane enjoyed the local Cleveland jazz scene alongside her companion and jazz artist John Richmond.

She is survived by her sisters Audrey Brown and Linda Drake; nieces Laquita Brown, Sabrina Gibson (Michael Ingram), Kareen Drake, Kristin (Ronald) Parker and Kelli Drake; nephews Raoul Brown (Catrina Huggins); grandnephews London Worthy, Michael Gibson Jr., Mekhi Gibson, Kristopher Parker, Kayden Parker, Raoul Brown Jr.; grandnieces Ashley Brown, Amara Gooch, Alexus Wilson, Aaliyah Wilson, Raina Brown and Jaila Brown; and a host of great-grandnieces and nephews; as well as her companion, John Richmond. She is also survived by two previous husbands, Lonnie Bailey and James Evans.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Gilbert Harris, and nephew, Abdul Brown.

Memorial Service Saturday, October 13 at 2:30 PM at the funeral home. Family will receive friends to pay tribute and celebrate the life of Diane at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just East of Green Rd.) SATURDAY FROM 1-4 PM.

The family will have a private burial service at Knollwood Cemetery in Mayfield Heights.
