Dennis Dragomer

March 24, 1945 — February 16, 2025

Dennis Dragomer, age 79, passed on February 16, 2025, in the presence of his wife, Kathy Dragomer, who held him through his last dance. Born in Cleveland to Charlie and Rose, he is survived by his wife Kathy, his daughter Krista, son Seth (wife Peggi, grandson Linc), and a vast network of friends who loved him.

Dennis charted his own path through life, teaching himself cabinetry and creating his own business. He had a fine design sensibility and brought a unique artistry to all his work. Generally unassuming about his talents, he sparkled when showing guests the beautiful home he designed and built for his family and lived in for over 30 years. Dennis loved music and dance and if he could, moments after his passing, he would probably message everyone: I died! The band here is phenomenal! The players are the best of the best! Through this passion he created a beautiful network of lifelong relationships, a network that continued to grow as he pulled friends and strangers alike onto the dance floor and into his joy. Dennis would do anything for his friends, and was that guy who would always show up ready to help with emergencies, or broken drawer glides, or backyard concert set-ups. And he would stay for the dinner, the party, the stories to be created and shared. Dennis was and will continue to be a collection of stories. There are the animated tales he told (and told again) in the superlative, and all true. Clue championships in the Belfaire group home where he lived after his mother passed, misadventures with his foster brother Pete, skateboarding, motorcycles, his cookie truck route for the Buckeye Biscuit company, selling strollers for his crafty uncle Harold, favorite cars, favorite meals, favorite shoes, his dog Blood named after a favorite science fiction novel, vacations and parties and of course, all the music. And there are the stories told by all who knew him, wild adventures, memorable car rides, festivals in the rain, his leather jackets and cool hats and t-shirts he had signed year after year, his big laugh, big opinions, big love for sharing everything that he enjoyed. His ability to be immersed in the moment. Denny lived life fully. He ate the whole cake.

Dennis danced hard through two cancers, never ceasing to be stirred out of his pain by an accordion. In the final week of his life he was serenaded by a parade of beloved musician friends who kept his fingers and toes tapping. In a snowstorm, on a bed, he somehow managed to exit in the most Dennis way possible. He will be dearly missed and joyfully celebrated for all he shared. A celebration of his life is being planned for spring/summer where his friends and family can play music, dance, and tell stories of the many lives of Dennis Dragomer.

Cremation and final arrangements handled by the DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home, 28890 Chardon Road, Willoughby Hills, OH 44092.
