DAVID ELLIOTT VALENTINE age 71, beloved husband of the late Ellen (nee MacGregor); loving father of Heather (Jared) Valentine-Gold and Julia (Christopher) Valentine Muller; devoted grandfather of Everett Gold, Jaxson Muller, Laurel Muller, and Quinn Muller; cherished son of the late Richard E. and Lois (nee Petersen) Valentine; dearest brother of Alice Valentine, Nancy (Robert) Valentine-Adams, and the late Richard Valentine; dear uncle and great-uncle of many.
Dave was born on March 11, 1953, in Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating from Cleveland Heights High School in 1971, he attended Kent State University. Dave proudly owned and operated Valentine Painting Company, an exterior house painting business, for over two decades. He had a lifelong love for music and was largely responsible for introducing Reggae music to the Cleveland area. He co-founded and played bass guitar in I-Tal, the first Reggae band in Cleveland. He had a deep appreciation for all kinds of music, and enjoyed hiking and admiring the beauty of nature, and was an avid tennis player.
Dave's passionate and empathetic demeanor extended from his work to his family. Life was best spent doing the things he loved and being with those he loved most, his family and friends.
On December 1, 2024, Dave passed away, leaving his family and friends missing his calm, kind, and open-minded ways. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and those he offered a helping hand to throughout his life.
Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Dave at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) Monday, December 9, 2024, from 4-6 PM.
Immediately following, the family will invite words of remembrance at 6 PM at THE FUNERAL HOME.
