David “Dave” Trefzger

DAVID JOSEPH TREFZGER age 60, loving father of Kate Trefzger (husband Jake Wentz), Allison Bennes (husband Christian), Brittany Gildner (husband Luke), and Neil David Trefzger II (wife Drew Rizzetta); devoted grandfather of Max James Gildner, Kate Louise Trefzger, Lucy Rose Gildner, Cora Susanna Gildner, Zoe Susanna Wentz, Hanna Carroll Bennes, Finn Jacob Wentz, Henry Conrad Trefzger, and Lyla Elizabeth Bennes; cherished son of Neil and Marjorie (nee Elber); dearest brother of Ken (wife Lynn), Laura Bukovec (husband Don), Lynn Joy (husband Bryan), Bob (wife Megan), Joan Busch (husband John), Rick (wife Tawny), and Don (wife Nikki); former husband for 27 years of Paula (nee Carroll); dear uncle and great-uncle of many.

Dave was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 13, 1961 and passed away on October 10, 2021.  He was a devout Catholic and helped in the office at St. Mary. He was involved with the MS Society, Project Hope for the Homeless, and tutoring children. Dave was an impressive golfer, bowler, and enjoyed watching sports. He found enjoyment in anything involving golf. Reading and movie watching were a couple of his favorite pastimes. Dave was an extremely intelligent and loving person. He was kind, generous and a good listener.  He loved his family very much and they made him proud. He will be dearly missed.

Contributions may be made in memory of Dave to National MS Society or St. Mary of the Assumption Church of Mentor.

Cremation by DeJohn Crematory.

Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, October 16, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church of Mentor, 8560 Mentor Ave, Mentor, OH 44060, at 10 AM.

Inurnment at All Souls Cemetery.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Dave at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) FRIDAY 4-8 PM.
