DANIEL J. WALSH, age 80; beloved husband for 58 years of Marianne (nee Fink); loving father of Dennis (wife Teresa), Patrick (wife Paula), Mark (wife Laura), Marie Jones (husband James) and the late Gerald; devoted grandfather of Christian (wife Stephanie), Daniel, Jacqueline Finomore (husband Brandon), Allison Grampa (husband David), Matthew, Jennifer Till (husband John), Scott, Tom and Max Greenberg and the late Mark, Jr. and great-grandfather of Isabella, Logan, Liam, Gianna, Sofia, Cole, Julia and twins Augie and Graesyn; cherished son of the late Patrick and Marguerite (nee Haney); dearest brother of Patricia Corrigan (husband Neil, deceased), Sheila Grantham (husband Richard), Christopher and the late Joan McDonald (husband Thomas), Michael and Edward; dear uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend of many.
Dan was a member of the Knights of Columbus Geauga Council #3304 and a Korean Conflict US Navy Veteran. A graduate of Benedictine High School, Dan received a bachelor’s degree and worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for General Motors. He lived in Cleveland before moving to Chardon and joining St. Mary’s parish in 1954. In his spare time, Dan enjoyed speed reading, writing, collecting clowns and listening to Irish and Country music. His greatest pleasure was his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered as an entertaining jokester who was often the life of the party and loved telling stories.
Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 11:30 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 401 North Street, Chardon. Burial with Military Honors to follow at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Dan at THE DEJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY OF CHARDON (formerly Ritondaro) 126 SOUTH ST. (Rt. 44, south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) FRIDAY 2-4 and 5-8 PM.
