Cynthia Ellen Yarborough

CYNTHIA ELLEN YARBOROUGH, age 76, loving mother of Scott Looney (wife Leslie Short) and Tracey Crandall (husband Daniel); devoted grandmother of Ryan, Tyler, and Zach Looney and Cassidy and Delaney Crandall; cherished daughter of the late Jack Yarborough and Jackie (nee McKenna) Brogan; dearest sister of Patricia Yarborough-Gennis and Mark Yarborough; dear aunt and great-aunt of many; former wife of the late Donald Hugh Looney. Special thanks to her niece, Amanda Wolfe, for all her extraordinary care giving.

Cynthia Ellen Yarborough was born on October 5, 1945 in Hammond, Indiana to the late Jack Yarborough and Jackie (nee McKenna) Brogan. She lived in Illinois most of her life. Cindy held a variety of jobs, most recently as Systems Trainer at Applied Systems.  She enjoyed teaching others, animals, nature, Christmas and family reunions. She was an avid gardener, reader and was unusually mechanically inclined. But Cindy’s true avocation was looking after people in their time of need. Cindy loved caring for her children, grandchildren, her mother, her grandmother, aunts and uncles, and her nieces and nephews. Cindy’s fierce independence and integrity mixed with her focus on being an amazing caregiver made her the matriarch of the family. She was always in charge and used that strength beyond her diminutive size to make a difference when her family needed her. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
