Cynthia S. Bezdek

CYNTHIA S. BEZDEK (nee Shadwick) age 78, beloved wife for 56 years of Jim; loving mother of Mark (wife Heather) and Laura Horvath (husband Steve); devoted grandmother of Zach, Alyssa, Andrew, Evan, Alexis, Brooke, Elizabeth and Mackenzie; cherished daughter of the late Orin and Betty (nee Gardner) Shadwick; dearest sister of Marilyn Kring (husband John deceased) and Steve Shadwick; treasured sister-in-law of John and Kathy Bezdek; dear aunt, cousin and friend of many. 

Cindy was born May 10, 1946 in Columbus, Ohio and graduated from Gahanna High School in 1964. She earned her bachelor's degree in 1968 from Bowling Green State University and was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Using that education, this intelligent and giving lady obtained her dream position as a 4th grade teacher. Always social with a generous and caring heart, Cindy was active at her church, participating in Eve Circle and Open Circle. She was also a member of the Mayfield JCettes. Her personal pursuits included sewing, reading, gardening, playing tennis, attending the Broadway play series, traveling to Florida and taking cruises. Family was of utmost importance and many happy times were shared at the family’s loved cottage at Berlin Lake. As a devoted grandmother, she immensely enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Cindy was devoted to her family and faith and passed away on September 13, 2024, leaving the family to forever miss her sense of humor, caring ways and loving smile.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Cindy to the Seidman Cancer Center, University Hospitals, Institutional Relations & Development, P.O. Box 94554, Cleveland, OH 44101-4554. 

Celebration of Life Service Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 11 AM at Mayfield Church, 7747 Mayfield Road, Chesterland, Ohio. A private burial will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery at a later date. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Cindy at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) FRIDAY 2-4 AND 5-8 PM.
