CHRISTOPHER THOMAS SWYT age 65, beloved husband for 40 years of Barbara (nee Liptock); loving father of Jennifer Estafen (husband Christopher), Catherine Schmidt (husband Kevin), and Mark; devoted grandfather of Blane and Brayden Schmidt; cherished son of the late John and Eleanor (nee Malak); dearest brother of John Jr. (wife Karen), Margaret and Matthew (wife Linda); dear uncle and great-uncle of many.
Christopher was born at home on January 2, 1952 in Euclid. He attended St. Williams Grade School and is a 1970 graduate of Borromeo High School and Borromeo College class of 1974. He also attended Cleveland State University where he earned a teaching certificate. He taught English and religion at Cleveland Central Catholic from 1977 to 1980 and coached baseball. In 1981 he began working at TRW in Euclid in the payroll department. After the company downsized in 2002 he worked as the payroll manager at New Avenues to Independence in Cleveland until his retirement in December 2016. He was an assistant Boy Scout leader, soccer referee, and a coach for various sports teams including assistant coaching the VA-SJ Girls’ Varsity Soccer team from 1996 to 2000. He was a member of Our Lady Of the Lake Parish where Christopher was a former Eucharistic Minister and a current member of the Parish Finance Committee. He loved to ride his bicycle on the local trails in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and trips through New England. Christopher was also an avid reader, enjoyed kayaking, ice skating and cross-country skiing. Christopher died peacefully on Monday, October 16th, 2017 after a courageous battle of 21 months with Glioblastoma, he was surrounded by his loving family. Christopher will be dearly missed.

Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church at 10AM. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Christopher at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) FRIDAY 4-8 PM.
