Charles Zavarella

CHARLES D. ZAVARELLA age 68, beloved husband for 42 years of Maria  (nee Lappi); loving father of Danielle Saluan (husband Maurice), Alicia Zavarella (husband Lewis Leou), and Chuck (fiancé Elainna Peak); devoted grandfather of Maurice, Siena, Leo, and Gio; cherished son of the late Daniel and Rose (nee LaVecchia) Zavarella; dearest brother of Daniel (wife Toni), Gina Protopapa (husband Carlo), Christy Grisanti (husband Tony), and the late Nick (wife Linda); dear uncle and great-uncle of many.

Charles was born on May 25, 1954, in Cleveland, Ohio, where he was proud to call home. He was an owner of Zavarella Brothers Construction; a company he and his brothers began in 1976. Chuck was truly dedicated to his work and honored to have been a part of projects such as the construction of Pinecrest, Eaton, Legacy Village, and the Triangle. He loved sharing memories with his family and relished the moments driving around town pointing out the places he grew up and the buildings he worked on. He attended concrete conventions with his brothers, which usually meant spending time discussing business poolside in the Bahamas or over a round of golf in Vegas. Vegas was also a place he and the family traveled too together. He and Maria took all three of their children to Vegas on their 21^st birthdays to really celebrate their days. As the children grew and moved to start families of their own, he and Maria spent many hours in the car traveling to California and New Jersey to see them. It was the road trips and memories made along the way that Chuck treasured more than anything. He loved spending time with family, eating great food, and just having a good time. On September 25, 2022, this strong minded and generous man passed away leaving his family and friends missing him beyond measure.

Please meet for a Mass of Christian Burial Friday, September 30, 2022, at 11 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6850 Mayfield Road, Gates Mills, OH 44040.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Chuck at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) THURSDAY 4-8 PM.
