CHARLES J. “CHARLIE” BASLER age 69, beloved husband of the late Patty (nee Richards); loving father of Mindy Cannon (husband Patrick) and Saundra Jadach (husband Thomas); devoted grandfather of Gabrielle and Tommy Jadach; cherished son of the late Robert and Evelyn (nee Baxter); dearest brother of Carol Powers (husband Richard, deceased), Sue Bertleff (husband Richard), Franny Misterka (husband Adam), and the late Robert Jr. (wife Barb) and Larry; dear uncle and great-uncle of many. Also survived by his faithful K-9 grand-dogs Linus and Luna.
Charlie was born on March 2, 1948 in Chardon and passed away on September 19, 2017. He attended Chardon High School and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Chardon Fraternal Order of Eagles. Charlie proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Charlie worked as a mechanic at Junction Auto and Cooke’s Auto Sales. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, car shows, and boat watching. He was described as loving, helpful, giving, generous, neighborly, handy, hardworking, and was very particular about his things. Charlie will be dearly missed.
Cremation by DeJohn Crematory. Prayers of Christian Burial Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 4 PM at THE FUNERAL HOME. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Charlie at THE DeJOHN Funeral Home & Crematory of Chardon (formerly Ritondaro) 126 South St. (Rt. 44, south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Thursday 2-4 PM.
