Charles Grenig

Charles E. Grenig, Jr., 90, of Sandusky, passed away July 15, 2014 at Firelands Hospital in Sandusky. He was born Sept. 8, 1923 in Cleveland.

Charles was a resident of Sandusky for a short time after moving from Chagrin Falls. He was a WW II US Marine Corp Veteran. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Willoughby Hills and a volunteer fireman in Willoughby Hills for 25 years. He also worked as a Stationary Engineer for Chase Brass and Copper Co. for 30 years. Charles was a stained glass artist, creating jewelry, clocks and tiffany-style lamps. He was also an avid bowler and enjoyed playing golf and copper etching.

Charles is survived by his daughters, Arlene Brown of Painesville and Betty Lubbers of Sheffield Lake; grandchildren, Dennis Fleming (Jaimi), Jaymee Fleming, David Brown (Kim), Jessica Brown, Autumn Terry (Dan), Bonne Nagle (Greg), Lucia Scibona and Nina Sullivan (Bryan); and 10 great-grandchildren; and his brother, William Grenig (Laura) of Florida. He was the dear uncle, great-uncle and friend of many.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace M.; son-in-law, Robert Brown; parents, Charles E. and Gertrude (nee Miller) Grenig; and sister, Norma Burick.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Charles Friday, July 18, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. at DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home of Willoughby Hills, 28890 Chardon Road (between Bishop Road & Rt. 91), where a Celebration of Life Service followed by military honors will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Service will be conducted by daughter Betty Lubbers. Burial Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery, Twinsburg.
