Charles A. Giza, 95, of Hambden Twp., entered into eternal life July 13, 2016 surrounded by his family. Charlie was born October 9, 1920 in Owatonna, MN to the late Anthony and Bertha (nee Kornacki). He has been a resident of Chardon since 1969.
Charles was a WW II and Korean Conflict U. S. Air Force Veteran and retired from the Military after 30 years of service to his country. He worked as a security officer for Delavan Electronics Missile Sites in Kansas, NASA and retired from General Electric.
Charles is survived by his wife of 53 years, Penelope T. “Penny” (nee Gorczyca), sons Thomas of NV, Anthony E.(wife Courtney) of Chardon; daughter Charlotte Harnett of NM; grandchildren Christian, Katherine, Michael, Matthew, Jason and Joseph; sister Genevieve “Jean” Giza; and daughter-in-law Annette Giza.
Charles was preceded in death by his son Charles A. Jr.; daughter Terry; brother August; and sister Helen Shulick.
Family suggests contributions may be made in Charles’ memory to St Mary Church 401 North Street, Chardon OH 44024.
Prayers at the Funeral Home at 10:45 am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, July 18, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church at 11:30 am. Burial following with Military Honors at Hambden Cemetery.
Family received friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Charles at the DeJohn Funeral Home & Crematory of Chardon (formerly Ritondaro) 126 South St. (Rt. 44, south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Sunday 3-5 and 6-8 PM.
