Charles Bingham Blossom

Charles Bingham ‘Bing’ Blossom, 84, of Hunting Valley died peacefully at home on October 7, 2022 surrounded by family members.

He attended Hawken School and was a graduate of Choate School in Wallingford, CT. He earned a B.A. in economics from Yale University.

A skilled stock market analyst, he started at Foster Brothers, Weber & Co. in Toledo, spending the remainder of his professional career as a financial analyst at Roulston & Company, Inc. in Cleveland, and subsequently in private practice.

Dedicated to his family’s philanthropic legacy, he served as a trustee of The William Bingham Foundation for more than 50 years, including many years as president.

A zealous lifelong Cleveland baseball fan, Bing was thrilled watching the Guardians win their first AL Wild Card playoff game hours before his passing. From 1972 through 1986, Bing and his brother Dudley ‘Bun’ Blossom held a minority interest in the Cleveland Indians, ensuring that the Tribe’s home remained in Cleveland. His love for the game led to several years of dedicated coaching for multiple local youth baseball teams.

In addition to baseball, Bing was an avid butterfly enthusiast, specifically following the Swallowtail and Monarch species. He created a backyard natural habitat to serve as a butterfly sanctuary and never missed an opportunity to photograph Swallowtails or Monarchs while on vacation.

Bing’s family includes his wife of 51 years Deborah McDevitt Blossom; daughter Robin Blossom and sons Perry (Pamela) Blossom of Chagrin Falls, and David (Marie) Blossom of Solon; grandchildren Jaymi Feeney (dec.), Elisabeth Blossom, Jennifer Blossom, Thomas Blossom and Katherine Blossom; brother Dudley (Kay) Blossom III of Fairview Park and Vero Beach, FL; sisters Laurel (Leonard Todd) Blossom of Los Angeles, and Elizabeth (Dale, dec.) Meers of Washington, DC.

In lieu of sending flowers, please consider planting native milkweed or flowers. Or, if preferred, a contribution can be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Per Bing’s request, there will be no funeral service. Private interment will be at Lake View Cemetery.

Cremation and arrangements entrusted to THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND.
